Laval University is a state-owned research university established in 1663 and is linked with AUFC, CARL, IAU, AUCC, CBIE, CEI and UArctic. The institution started as a university and was initially settled by François De Montmorency-Laval who was the first Catholic priest of New France.
In the past, the university used to be called Séminaire de Québec. The university has been built with the goal of forming and teaching those priests that may be able to assist New France. The University later broadened its educational facilities to comprise the liberal arts.

The University has a collective student population of about 43,000 students, and also 7,000 foreign students. Candidates should have a final or qualified acceptance provided at Laval University for the scholarship award to be accepted. Candidates that are on the waiting list will not be considered as admissible.
