The University of Western Ontario is delighted to announce the University of Western Ontario International Scholarships awarded to high achieving students who are interested in studying a degree program at the Institution.
The University of Western Ontario (UWO), brand-named as Western University as of 2012 and usually shortened to Western, is a state-owned research higher academic institution in London, Ontario, Canada. The primary campus is situated on 455 hectares (1,120 acres) of land, enclosed by residential districts and the Thames River cleaving the campus’s eastern section. The university runs twelve academic faculties and schools. It is a member of the U15, a group of research-intensive universities in Canada.
The university was established on 7 March 1878 as the Western University of London, Ontario by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth of the Anglican Diocese of Huron. It assimilated Huron College, which had been created in 1863. The initial four faculties were Divinity, Arts, Law and Medicine. The university became non-denominational in 1908. Starting in 1919, the university had allied with a lot of other denominational colleges. The school grew significantly in the post-World War II era, and a number of faculties and schools were created.
